I had an incredibly busy 2017. It was so busy that I got very, very little knitting done comparatively speaking. I knit fewer pairs of socks in 2017 than in any other year since I started knitting (which was 2009, for the record). And I even missed my blogaversary - not that it matters, because I only blogged about 3 times in 2017. It's already 2018.
So I'm going to insert a post with stuff from the last several months of 2017. There will be minimal text and a bunch of photos. Mainly I need to update my Rav projects and stash (which I haven't done in 6 months).
I am a blogging fail.
Finished my STC Prism socks in Entanglement. Love.
I did actually do two of them but I can't find the photos of both socks at once. You'll have to take my word.
Got my September STC Sock Club yarn. It's Hydrangea, which is a complex 10 striper, and had a lovely violet heel/toe skein.
In September I knit my Rainbow Trout socks from my Artistic Yarns by Abi
Knit the Hydrangea socks b/c I'm trying to keep up with the sock club (seriously - 6 pairs a year? Even I should be able to do that, but I'm already behind.) Again, both socks knit. Not sure if I've taken photos of both together.
Somewhere along the line I ordered a skein of STC Inertia in Isopentenyl Pyrophosphate.
Finsihed one Hydra sock (STC Entanglement)
Knit the last of the 2016 STC skeins. I'm not a huge fan of burgundy and grey, but they were perfect for a co-worker who has a pair of New Balance shoes in exactly these colours.
Some photos of the Green Toad down on the waterfront. It was the G-7 building (or was it G-8?). I love interesting architecture. Plus it makes a change from socks.
And then there were the ubiquitous early morning sky shots from the back deck.
Then there's the usual view out of our boardroom.
I knit the Isopentenyl Pyrophosphate socks for my friend Debby.
I made a hat (originally for me, but then gave it to Quinn b/c he liked the colours) out of the DK White Birch Fiber Arts in Winter is Coming.
Then I did one for me in my WBFA SW DK The Full Monty
Got my November STC Yarn Club offering. It's LIGO on the Entanglement base. I figure I'm okay not to do a spoiler alert since it's been 2 months now. (eyeroll).
Some rather colourful Adirondack (or Muskoka) chairs at Dalhousie in November. The rest of the country was in snow at the time.
In my little subdivision there were an alarming number of blow-up Christmas decorations. This was obviously a Star Wars family house. You can't see the Storm Trooper, because he's deflated on the lawn, but Yoda is there. The storm trooper is the blur of light on the ground to the left of ghostly Yoda.
The Lad did a painting for the first time in forever. It was a commission for someone else but he at least sent us a photo.
My dog is as cute as ever and as woeful.
I finally made myself a Ghazal cowl out of my special skein of Miss Babs Yowza in Deep Sea Jellyfish. This is one of my all-time top 10 favourite yarn colourways.
I knit one sock out of Hedgehog Fibers sock yarn in Secret. The remainder of the ball is patiently staring at me.
We had our Xmas lunch at the Bicycle Thief restaurant. They had an amazing gingerbread bicycle on display.
I took Sebastian for a walk at Point (Un)Pleasant Park on Christmas Eve. It was a glorious day.
There were some old tree trunk carvings of seals or something vaguely aquatic and mammalian.
And there were squirrel feeders. I managed to get a couple of shots with an actual squirrel.
I went on a cleaning binge over the holidays. This may be the cleanest the dining room has ever been. Previously it was the clutter room where cardboard goes to die.
I'm pretty sure no one is still reading this, so I could post pictures from the phone book and no one would notice.
Instead, I give you dogs.
And a pair of socks which I knit for the Lad. For a change of pace, I used something other than String Theory Colorworks. (What???? Sacrilege, I know). These are out of Scrumptious Purl in the O'Naturel colourway.
Then last but not least, I did a striped cowl for Felecia out of one of my Canon Hand Dyes minis kits in the Robert Something or other tweed (Autumn Rainbow) with some sort of charcoal contrast b/c she wanted grey.
I KNEW I had forgotten some yarn pictures. There was one more purchase of yarn some time in the fall of 2017. Hang on....
Also down on the waterfront is a bizarre rock which has been smoothed out inside and painted. It appeals to me.
The yarn order was from September, but as I recall, it took over 4 weeks to get here. I blame Canada Post.
I ordered S.E.U. in Continuum (it was basically a club colourway from last year with a reversal of 2 colours; I gave the original socks to Princess, so these will be for me); Observer Effect in Inertia with a blue heel/toe skein; Glucose in Entanglement (the one with pink and green and blue), and one of those Decapod sets with the golden heel/toe skein.
And Caitlin threw in a set of stitch markers because she's awesome. (And I think I forgot to use the discount code).
I have completed one sock for @Peacheyrama in the STC Fulgurite colourway. And I've started another striped cowl for me using the Rainbow speckled minis from CDH and a contrast skein of Sweet Georgia Cashluxe Fine in Ultraviiolet.
Over and out. No particular knitting goals for 2018 other than to find time to knit when I can, and perhaps blog more than once every six months.
Cheers and happy new year. Knit on, folks.
Welcome back - missed you! Please tell me that the snake under the sideboard in your dining room (third pristine room picture) isn't alive.....

Ha ha ha - no. It’s a rubber snake from the Calgary zoo.

You have inspired me to blog again. And knit socks.
