It's the end of August. I haven't blogged since the beginning of May. The whole summer has passed me by. (And yet, I pay $20 a month for the privilege of being too lazy to blog).
There has been knitting and a bunch of other stuff. There has also been a ton of computer frustration, which is part of it. I am cursed. Not only do I have bad zipper karma, I have bad computer karma.
All of my photos on my computer from 2015, 2016 and 2017 seem to have disappeared other than the ones I uploaded on August 5. I'm trying not to have a full-blown panic.
I can't pair my watch with my work phone, because my work phone doesn't recognize my watch. And my email has completely disappeared from my work phone. I had better get that fixed at the in-house genius bar tomorrow morning asap.
So I am going to go in reverse chronological order for this blog post. Excuse the randomness. I assume I have no readers left, but that's okay. I still use this to update Ravelry (which I also haven't done since probably April).
One of the cool things about working on the waterfront is that we get to see the cruise ships coming in and out. Most of them are as tall as or taller than our building. It's 7 storeys. It's funny to drive down Morris Street in the mornings and see a cruise ship coming in. This all looks out of perspective, but it's completely correct.
I have knit some socks since May, mostly with stolen bits of time and a couple of rows here and there.
I finished the Glycyrrhiza from String Theory Colorworks. They're in the Matrix base which is an 80/10/10 (Merino, cashmere, stellina) base. I love the colour
Before that we had a deep stash dive with a pair of Spectrum socks in the 70/20/10 MCN base from Gauge Dyeworks. This was actually a Caterpillargreen skein which I got when I ordered about 6 skeins in 2014 before anyone had heard of her. I love this one so much.
Yes, they're off by a stripe. The skein started with the tealy colour and on the next sock I decided to start with the indigo or the sapphire or whatever colour it is. I like the second sock better, but these are still perfect.
I have finished all but one of my 2016 STC yarn club socks. I did the Eta Carinae (in Wave). The fuchsia / magenta colour matches an Adidas shirt I have.
And I finished the first sock club offering from the STC club this year. The colourway is called Caffeine. I get my club yarn in the Entanglement base, which is a 75/25 MN with the standard 463 yard put-up. I can't decide whether to call my project Espresso Yo'self, Ole au lait, or Matcha appreciated.
My December 2016 STC yarn club was Greenhouse Effect. This is one of my favourite colours ever. In 2016 I had the Wave base which is being discontinued (sadly). It's 100% SW merino but I love it for socks. It has a nice tight twist.
I didn't use the heel/toe contrast skein which came with it, because the contrast skein is light blue and that is my least favourite colour on the planet. So I used the remnants of the Poste Yarn targhee sock which I used for a pair of socks for Quinn, but I didn't have enough for the second heel flap, so I ended up using the closest green I could find, which was some leftover Tanis Fiber Arts Purple Label from my Inara shawl. Can't remember which colour it was. Teal maybe?
The blue targhee was a virtually identical colour match; the TFA was not. Oh well. Whatevs.
I also finished the second of my four Abi Grasso yarns. It's the Not So Vanilla self-striping. It's kind of the colour of french vanilla ice cream with rows of sprinkles thrown in.
Fortunately I keep reasonably detailed project notes. Otherwise I'd be skunked.
I did take some awesome rainbow shots from the backyard using the pano feature on the phone. This was a while ago, but it was some time between May and now.
Yes, it's overkill. Whatever.
Have some clouds instead.
At some earlier point I finished one of my pairs of Cassiopeia socks from STC. I have this in two bases, which is good, because I love it so much.
I didn't even get glamour shots of these. I reversed the colours on the two socks. I lerve them.
I lied again. I did take glamour shots of these. Will insert here.
I knit a pair of STC socks for the lad for his graduation. These are the Chlorobium Tepidum colourway in Wave. I don't think he's worn them.
Yes, I am on a bit of a String Theory Colorworks kick. Thank you for noticing. I love her yarn and her customer service. She's awesome. Go and buy some.
But again, no glamour shots. Oh, I lied. I see further down in the photo stream I did take glamour shots. Here ya go.
And some more clouds. I may have to rename this socks and clouds.
And I knit a pair of socks for Princess in Socks that Rock Lightweight in the Pitterpat colourway.
I still haven't sent them to her (along with the Lash Paradise I picked up in June). I am a parenting fail.
And .... wait for it .... more clouds. These ones have cranes.
Those were taken at Dalplex. I went straight to No Frills after that, and the clouds were amazing because it was sunset.
I hate the multi photo function on Typepad. It moves the photos out of order.
I also knit a pair of Free Radical socks (Entanglement) from STC. This is one of my all-time favourite colourways. The h/t skein is a sparkly one. I love it.
I'm sure there are some yarn shots somewhere. But first, more random urban out and about shots.
The Black Market, the new World Trade & Convention Centre (or whatever it's called) and a really cool murally thing.
Yup, completely out of order.
And speaking of murals, here's another one of my favourite murals ever. Ever.
If you don't live in Halifax, I feel sorry for you. We have great art here.
And we also have Theodore the Tugboat.
Ah, finally some yarn. I haven't bought much, but I did buy some. Mostly (exclusively?) from STC. Surprise.
And more STC.
There was also the skein of the Caffeine STC sock club yarn, but I knit it all before I took a photo. I think I just wound it right up the day I got it. I'll put in a photo of what's left of the cake for my Rav stash, I guess.
We had the tall ships here in July. I couldn't be bothered to go and see them - too many people down on the boardwalk. But I did take a picture of the American ship which was tied up outside our work. That's one big ass American flag. It's probably 15 feet high.
And I think that brings me to the end of all my photos since May. I'm starving. Q is supposed to be cooking dinner.
Oh so much stripey gorgeousness! You make me want to knit all the greens and blues :)

I was wondering if the work foo had devoured you. I'm glad you were able to surface again. Love all the socks and the yarn.

Boy, you weren't kidding about being on a STC kick! I love that none of the ones you knit were the same ones I knit!!! :) Seeing your pics wants me to go wind yarns right meow.
I love that you work the heels so you don't disrupt the stripe pattern on the top of the foot and ankle. That is my biggest pet peeve.

I pay the annual fee of $89 a year. I didn’t blog for the entire year. How can that be?
How do you like your watch? Thinking of getting one.
