The problem with big projects at work and marking responsibilities is that they put a serious dent into crafting time. A serious dent. I've done next to nothing in the last month. I spent a lot of nights working late and a lot of weekends working and marking.
But crafting wise? Almost bubkes.
There were a couple of small deliveries, a HO and a FO. And that's all I have to show for four weeks.
As usual, I'm going to go in the order of the photos, so that means starting with some sky p0rn.
My January/February Canon Hand Dyes Minis club order arrived. It's some sort of speckledy thing. The name is Rainbow of Chaos and it's on the Charles base. The contrast skein is another skein of grey.
I have since rearranged them into a rainbow. Undoubtedly this will be another cowl, but not yet.
I also received my February String Theory Colorworks yarn. It had been mis-addressed and went to someone in New Brunswick on Grand Manan Island. She fortunately managed to find my address and forwarded it to me.
I thought it was taking a long time to arrive. But it was so worth it. Look at these beautiful happy colours. Mine is on the Wave base which I love. It wasn't an official base listed for the club, but I asked Caitlin if I could have it on Wave instead of Entanglement and she said yes, because she's awesome like that.
I am going to wind this baby today and start a pair of socks.
In terms of knitting, there is one FO. And it's a pair of socks for Princess. They're her birthday socks.
The yarn is Tanis Fiber Arts Blue Label. It's a bit of a deep stash dive. The colour is Ultraviolet, and it's one which Tanis and Chris no longer dye. I don't know why, though. It's a beautiful colour.
I just made up a 2x2 rib, for 16 rows, followed by a knit row, 2 purl rows to make the purl ridge, another knit row, then more 2x2 rib (but starting with P2 instead of K2) for 16 rows, then another purl ridge thing, then back to the first 2x2 rib for 50 rows, then the heel flap continuing in pattern (with some slipped stitches inside), a +3 leaf heel gusset, then the foot and toe decreases. Easy peasy.
I started Feb 13 and finished Feb 28. I missed the birthday deadline, but there was a lot of marking and working nights in there.
I spotted this a couple of weeks ago. Interesting, a local news van and a couple of VW beetles.
Aw, isn't that a cute little face on the front of the car. And notice the big round black Micky Mouse ears on the one on the right. (The ears on the one on the left are obscured by the black car behind it).
Look closer. It says Pest Control or Pest something or other.
Apparently there has been a problem with rats burrowing into people's yards lately because of the warm winter. I managed to find the little news clip on the Global News website.
Perhaps that is why the dogs rush outside and around the side of the house at every opportunity.
More work seascape and sky p0rn.
After I finished Princess's socks, I started a pair in my BMFA Cloud 9 in the A Speck of Autumn colourway. I really liked it on the website and was curious as to how it would knit up. I'm a little less impressed in person. I'm not a huge fan of speckles.
Even the BMFA speckles end up pooling. LOL.
But I worked on it yesterday and managed to finish the first sock. I am going to do something else before I do sock number 2.
So that's the sum total of the yarn and fiber content.
I have done no crochet in a month.
I did order a skein of No. 2 Pencil and Looseleaf Paper from The Yarn Enabler on Etsy. I've had my eye on that for a long time. There was also a Pencil Crayon SOTM Club there. When I looked, there was a full-year option, so I pounced on it. Now there are only one-month options.
So I'm pretty excited for that.
I think a 6x2 rib should be good for pencil socks.
Other than that, I leave you with today's cloud p0rn and some interesting shots of the crappy looking exterior at the Studley Gym
The sky shots were from when I walked the dogs this morning. The clock going forward always discombobulates me.
And the Studley shots just appealed to me. I might Instagram a couple of them.
Okay, I told you it was light on fiber/fibre content today. Hopefully there will be more next time I blog.
I've been reading lots and listening to audiobooks lots. But I haven't been knitting.
Those socks out of the TFA yarn are beautiful! I liked how you broke up the ribbing - looks good!
I don't really understand why speckles are so popular right now, but that's just me.
