Thanks to Christy H for the tag.
My email to Christine this morning:
Okay, evil genius.... (Are you Pinky or are you the Brain? I think you're the Brains of this outfit and I'm Pinky. I'm even wearing pink today - well, it's actually watermelon).
How about we do this? We can do a Romancing the Stash sock club. Every month we will check out each other's stash and patterns on Ravelry and we'll tell the other what skein of yarn to knit with and what pattern to knit.
I know we'll both keep in mind that we need to make the other knit with items in stash which we haven't tried. Maybe even colours we don't love. And there are oodles of patterns to choose from. I guess the patterns don't have to be in Ravelry stash -- they could be from any of the books we have. I think all my books are in my Ravelry library. Except for the Toe up Socks a la Carte which I ordered for my Kindle.
Are you game? We can then figure out what else we are going to knit from our own stash on our own. But this way it comes as a bit of a surprise.
So I thought about it and went to Ravelry to look in Christine's stash. Here's my follow up email to her:
Here's what I think are your choices for October:
Yarn (you can choose one of these):
1. DIC Smooshy with Cashmere in Joy in the Morning
2. String Theory Caper in Blue Hill
3. Wabi Sabi Caribbean
4. Woolen Rabbit Harmony in Scottish Heather
Pattern (you can choose one of the following five):
From Around the World in Knitted Socks by Stephanie Van der Linden
1. The Scent of Lavender
2. Vacation in the Mountains
3. It's Tea Time
From Joy of Sox:
1. Spring Fling
2. Sole Mates
3. Warm Up Sock
Then this is her response to me. It's like her rules for the YarnWatchers. I am just waaaaayyy too dumb to follow without having to untangle one step at a time.
We have to start with November cos I have already started 2 socks.
I want to tie in with the SKA and solid socks KAL because I chat with these people. And what about sock clubs? And I can only knit at most 3 pairs over 2 months.
So what about a compromise? I give you a list of 10 possible patterns for the month and a color. Then, you pick the yarn and pattern. It does not need to be pattern and the color I picked but it would be good if I can double dip! E.g. One of my patterns may need variegated yarn so the solid yarn would not work. Thus, the surprise!! I cannot substitute. I must knit as ordered unless the pattern-yarn combo is just horrible!! That way, I have 2 of my own options if I choose to...???
Next month, I'm struggling with the color for the element air. Air is colorless, transparent. Does that mean it can be any color?
My response back to her:
I will have to forward this to myself and think about it. You are definitely the Brain.
Air -- Smog is grey. Blue sky is Blue. Fluffy clouds in the air are blue and white. Night sky is dark blue or navy or violet. Sunsets are reds and yellows and purples and oranges. Sunrises are the same. As far as I'm concerned, air can be any color except green.
And hers to me:
You've never been in a tornado warning situation where the sky is green and the wicked witch is about to land?
I rest my case. Christine is definitely the Brain.....
ROFLOL!!!!!That is entirely too much thinking for me. I'd be Pinky too.

Phew! Glad you approve. I was afraid I might offend you by including our emails without asking first.
I couldn't find a picture of the wicked witch with the green sky. So I had to just have the green sky of Oz instead. But the idea is the same.
